How to care for your skin before and after your MBD treatments.

 

Botulinum Toxin

Pre-Treatment.

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications for a period of at least 2 weeks before treatment as they can increase the risk of bruising.

  • Don’t consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to your treatment as alcohol may thin the blood and increase your risk of bruising.

  • ​Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event, such as a wedding or vacation, since the results can take up to 14 days to appear.

  • ​If you have sensitive skin discontinue irritating skin products (i.e. Retinol) 2 days before and after your treatment.

  • ​Reschedule your appointment at least 48 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore, blemish on the treatment area or if you feel unwell.

  • ​Book your workout before your treatment.

Post-Treatment.

  • You must keep your head upright for 4 hours after your treatment

  • Do not manipulate or massage the treated area for at least 4 hours after the treatment.

  • Do not undergo facial/laser treatments or microdermabrasion after Botox injections for at least 5 days.

  • It can take up to 14 days for results to be seen. If the desired appearance isn’t seen after 2 weeks, you may need additional units.

  • Do not perform strenuous activities, heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for 4 - 6 hours after your treatment.

  • Avoid extensive sun exposure and excessive heat for at least 72 hours after your treatment.

  • Avoid consuming large amounts of alcohol.

Microneedling

Pre-Treatment.

  • Discontinue the use of active ingredients on the skin 3 days prior to your treatment

  • Active ingredients include but are not limited to retinol, vitamin C, Salicylic Acid​

  • Ideally, please arrive at your appointment make-up free

Post-Treatment.

DAY 1

  • Only apply LIFT* to your face post-procedure. Avoid showering and washing your face, this will irritate your skin more. Sleep with a clean pillowcase or fresh towel to avoid infection. No exercise

DAY 2 - 3

  • ​Wash your face with a sensitive cream cleanser, if you do not have one then rinse your face with water. After cleansing apply RESCUE* to calm and soothe the skin. Apply mineral-based sunscreen, if you do not have one then avoid the sun for 72 hours. No exercise

DAY 4

  • Start regular skin care regime, however, wait one full week before vigorous exfoliation, salicylic acid, and retinols. You may start exercising again.

Dermal Filler

 

Pre-Treatment.

  • Don’t consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to your treatment as alcohol may thin the blood and increase your risk of bruising.

  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event such as a wedding or vacation, since the results can take up to 14 days to appear.

  • If you have sensitive skin discontinue irritating skin products (i.e. Retinol) 2 days before and after your treatment. 

  • Avoid dental work for 2 weeks before your treatment

  • Reschedule your appointment at least 48 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the treatment area or if you are feeling unwell.

  • Book your workout before your treatment.

Post-Treatment.

  • Herbal supplements such as Arnica may help decrease bruising and swelling.

  • Do not touch, manipulate or massage the treated area unless directed by your physician.

  • Do not undergo facial/laser treatments or microdermabrasion after dermal filler injections for at least 10 days.

  • Avoid applying makeup for 24 hours.

  • Avoid strenuous activity for 48 -72 hours.

  • Avoid extreme heat (hot yoga, steam or sauna, tanning beds) for 48 - 72 hours. 

  • Avoid dental work for 2 weeks post-treatment.

  • Swelling, redness and bruising may occur, however, if you experience increased pain, bruising, swelling or discolouration of the skin, contact us immediately.
